There’s been a lot of talk that investors are ready to shed their pessimistic views on airline stocks like Alaska Air (ALK) Delta Air Lines (DAL), United Continental Holdings (UAL) and American Airlines (AAL) and embrace them for the long term. The only problem: There’s no sign that they actually are.

Stem cell stocks have not exactly been the best performers lately in part because the controversy over their use has died down over the years while major breakthroughs have been few or far between, but the industry along with small cap stem cell stocks Pluristem Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: PSTI), BioTime, Inc (NYSEMKT: BTX) and BioRestorative Therapies (OTCBB: BRTX) are still quietly producing their share of news or minor breakthroughs worth taking note of. Just consider the following stem cell news or news from small cap players in the sector:

Advisors' Opinion:- [By Roberto Pedone]
Pixelworks (PXLW) designs, develops, and markets video and pixel processing semiconductors, software, and custom ASIC solutions for digital video applications. This stock closed up 8.5% to $6.60 in Tuesday's trading session.
Tuesday's Range: $6.11-$6.63
52-Week Range: $3.63-$9.83
Tuesday's Volume: 1.82 million
Three-Month Average Volume: 1.16 millionFrom a technical perspective, PXLW ripped sharply higher here right above some near-term support at $6 with above-average volume. This strong rip to the upside on Tuesday is quickly pushing shares of PXLW within range of triggering a near-term breakout trade. That trade will hit if PXLW manages to take out Tuesday's intraday high of $6.63 and then once it clears its recent gap-down-day high right below $7 with high volume.
Traders should now look for long-biased trades in PXLW as long as it's trending above Tuesday's intraday low of $6.11 or above $6 and then once it sustains a move or close above those breakout levels with volume that hits near or above 1.16 million shares. If that breakout hits soon, then PXLW will set up to re-fill some of its previous gap-down-day zone from July that started just above $8.

Pixelworks Inc. (NASDAQ: PXLW) showed that its second-quarter revenue rose by 15.5% due to increased sales of chips for both projectors and TVs. Shares were up 26% at $4.50 in the Tuesday after-hours session, but we would warn that volume is not as active and a wide spread may have amped the gain. Now we have shares up a whopping 44% at $5.15, and volume has become active as a result.

According to Adobe Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: ADBE), shoppers welcomed the Thanksgiving Day opening:
The increase in Thanksgiving online sales surpassed last year, breaking the billion-dollar mark at $1.06 billion, with actual spending up 18%. No laggard, Black Friday reached a record of its own, with actual spending jumping to nearly $2 billion ($1.93 billion)p more than 30% [year over year].

Technology heavyweight, Adobe Systems (ADBE) also has web fonts of its own. Typekit was a pioneer in web font technology when it launched it in 2009. However, Adobe acquired Typekit in 2011. This acquisition allowed Adobe to have its own Typekit Web Fonts library consisting of 1200 web fonts. This Typekit library has become a vital part of Adobe Creative Cloud. With this acquisition, Adobe could have been a threat for Monotype Imaging. Strangely, Adobe is Monotype Imaging's largest client. Adobe entered a partnership last year with Monotype Imaging that adds over 1,000 Monotype Imaging fonts to Adobe's typekit service. Hence, Adobe Creative Cloud now also offers Monotype Imaging fonts.

Innovation and friendliness are two stewards that software developers value highly in order to retain and attract customers. Applications that are easy to navigate and to use have proved to be highly valued by users. Some companies were able to meet the challenge and deliver tailor made products, among them are: Sap Aktiengesellschaft (SAP) and Adobe Systems (ADBE). But, does catering to customer preferences generate profits?

Adobe (NASDAQ: ADBE ) is leaving permanent software licenses behind, and will deliver its creative tools exclusively via its cloud-based subscription hub. The company hailed this move as an "accelerated shift to the cloud."

Rio Tinto (RIO) is an international mining group that engaged on finding, mining and processing the Earth's mineral resources. This stock closed up 5% at $49.81 in Friday's trading session.
Friday's Volume: 9.24 million
Three-Month Average Volume: 3.65 million
Volume % Change: 169%From a technical perspective, RIO ripped higher here back above its 200-day moving average of $48.56 with heavy upside volume. This move also pushed shares of RIO into breakout territory, since the stock took out some past overhead resistance levels at $48.82 to $49.
Traders should now look for long-biased trades in RIO as long as it's trending above its 200-day at $48.56 or above Friday's low of $48.31 and then once it sustains a move or close above Friday's high of $50.35 with volume that hits near or above 3.65 million shares. If we get that move soon, then RIO will set up to re-test or possibly take out its next major overhead resistance levels at $52.45 to $57.83.

Smaller peers could disappear
Iron ore industry giantRio Tinto (NYSE: RIO ) has weighed in on the state of the iron ore industry. The company's management has stated that if the price of iron ore does fall to the $80 per ton level, many smaller peers will disappear. I don't want to speculate too much, but I would be willing to say that Cliffs could also disappear if the price of ore fell below that level.

In June 2012, Vivendi floated its then $8.1 billion stake in ATVI. However, the offering was not well received as there are very few companies that could afford to take over ATVI given its large market cap. Mentioned in the article, it is very likely that there are only three possible strategic buyers with the potential interest and capability to make such an acquisition: Microsoft, Disney, and Asian internet and gaming company Tencent (TCEHY.PK), which has a ~$60 billion market cap. Shortly after in August, Vivendi gave up on the sale.

Shares in Sohu.com (SOHU) continued their rapid rise, hitting yet another fresh 52-week high during the session, as the company announced the special dividend from Sohou yesterday (press release located here). Sohu.com will receive nearly $161.2 million in the transaction which is part of the overall $400 million deal with Tencent (TCEHY.PK) which was announced not too long ago. These are exciting times in the internet space as we move from computers to mobile devices, but China's internet landscape looks like the 'Wild West' right now and we expect to see further deals as companies jockey for position in their respective niches and consolidation begins as the larger players look to step up growth and gain exposure to new business segments.

The main on-line competitors are:
Qunar.com, a travel website owned by Baidu (BIDU) and a few venture fundseLong (LONG), backed by Tencent (TCEHY.PK) and Expedia (EXPE). Analyst expect it to generate $163M in revenue next yearThat is pretty serious competition, needless to say. Having the backing of Baidu or Expedia offers several advantages, but Ctrip is the biggest and most established company. It's quite difficult to compare Qunar.com to Ctrip, for the simple sake that Qunar is a private company. However, there can be little doubt that it constitutes serious competition:
